In May, we went back to Nana and Pop's for Memorial Weekend. This trip started a new obsession with fishing. When we stopped at Walmart for a break on our drive, Sam spontaneously bought some poles for girls and a few fishing supplies. Now, a large portion of our time in Oklahoma is spent on water's edge. We started early the first morning we were there, just down the hill, by the pond. Lots of little perch and catfish were biting. Kate, with Pop's help, started reeling them in one after another. She was excited, but not too sure what to think once the fish was out of the water. She most definitely did not want it touching her. Then, Naomi and Daddy began to catch some.
After the excitement of holding the pole and reeling in the fish wore off, the girls enjoyed exploring around the pond, laying on a blanket with me, and investigating the tackle box, while Daddy fished til his heart's content.
Pop also hung rope swings in a pecan tree. The girls have a new favorite activity by far. They could go back and forth and around in circles as long as a willing person will push them.
The girls were able to reap some potatoes and onions they helped sow back in March.
Our trips here are never complete without hikes through woods and a ride in the razor, if Steve and Patti are able to join us.
It was fun weekend!
